Why?

Not only are KidzArt classes fun and challenging but students involved in the arts are 4 times more likely to be recognized for academic achievement.

“Young artists, as compared with their peers, are more likely to:  Attend music, art, and dance classes nearly three times as frequently.  Participate in youth groups nearly four times as frequently.  Read for pleasure nearly twice as often.  Perform community service more than four times as often.”

“The facts are that arts education:  makes a tremendous impact on the developmental growth of every child and has proven to help level the "learning field" across socio-economic boundaries.”

  1. Can my child go directly to the KidzArt class when school is dismissed?

Yes, a KidzArt instructor will be at the KidzArt class location.

  1. After KidzArt class, do I need to pick up my child from the KidzArt classroom?

In order to ensure the safety of your child, please pick up children from the KidzArt classroom unless you have otherwise instructed us on your registration form – for example “return to after school care” or “walk home”.  If you would like to meet your child anywhere else besides the KidzArt classroom, including the front of the school, please make a request in writing or tell us on your registration form. Contact Us.

  1. I want to enroll my child, but did not get a flyer. What do I do?

You can sign up online by finding the programs page and clicking on the “Classes” button.  Follow the prompts to find your school.  The class dates and session information will come up for you to see before you are asked for payment information.  If you have further questions please call.

  1. How many children do you accept in your class?

We limit our classes to 15 students to ensure every child receives enough encouragement and attention.

  1. What ages/grades do you accept in your after school programs?

K-5.  Do you have a location that would welcome a TeenzArt or Adult Art Innovators class?  Please tell us!

  1. Do you combine age groups?

If enrollment is large enough, we prefer to run two classes.  If one class is offered, our teacher to student ratio is very low, we are able to give younger / beginner students extra attention and older / advanced students additional challenges.

  1. Does my child need to bring anything?

No, KidzArt provides all artist-quality supplies.

  1. Does KidzArt pick my child up at his/her classroom when the school bell rings?

We pick up our Kindergarten students from their classrooms on the first day of a new KidzArt session. We suggest that all parents tell their classroom teacher that their child is now going to KidzArt class after school so the teachers know of the approved change to their child's after school schedule.  If you have further questions, please call us.

  1. Who are your teachers?

KidzArt Certified Instructors go through comprehensive training on the KidzArt method. Many have classroom experience or are artists themselves. The KidzArt program is a national program and its methods have been proven for over 15 years! All of our instructors are thoroughly background checked including a multi-state database search.

  1. Is every class or session different?

Yes, KidzArt projects will never repeat.

  1. What kind of projects will my child do?

KidzArt is a drawing based art-enrichment program designed to enhance drawing skills and build each child’s confidence. Each and every project is “kid tested” ensure that all projects are fun and successful!  Students will do a variety of drawing subjects including animals, landscapes, people, and still life objects.  One class each session a new medium is introduced to give children a broad exposure to different art media throughout the year.

  1. What types of media are introduced throughout the year?

We primarily feature Prismacolor Markers to help focus the students on the skill acquisition of realistic drawing.  One class each session introduces students to a new medium giving students a broad exposure to different media throughout the year.  ArtStix, Oil Pastels, Chalk Pastels, Charcoal, Sand Art, Scratch Art, Watercolor and Scratch Art are some examples of what might be used any given session.

  1. How does your program inspire creativity?

KidzArt does not teach a “copy exactly” approach rather, we use guided instruction to help students learn drawing technique but also encourage students to take risks and learn from the creative process which emphasizes the learning process rather than a perfect result.  You will see that no 2 artists’ projects will ever look the same.  Each class teaches about the elements and principles of art & design.  We help the students to understand, line, planes, color, value, form, texture, balance, emphasis, contrast, unity, harmony and repetition.  In this way, we open up a world of possibilities.

  1. Do you offer home-school classes?

Yes!  KidzArt can come to your home school group.  Please call or email us and let’s talk about what your needs are.

  1. What cities will be offering KidzArt in the Clark County / Portland Metro Area?

For 2008-2009 we are looking to expand into Battleground, Brush Prairie, Camas, Clackamas, La Center, Portland, Ridgefield, Vancouver, Washougal, Woodland, and more.  Want to help us bring KidzArt to your school?  Please tell us.  We'd love to tell you about all the ways we give back to each school we serve.

  1. Why do you offer classes in the school itself?

We offer enrichment classes in the school for many reasons – they benefit children, parents, and the school itself!  Children are in a familiar environment they feel comfortable in which helps them learn a new skill. Parents can reduce the time and money associated with driving their children around to extra curricular activities! Schools benefit from being able to offer a program that parents and children desire, without adding to their internal workload.  KidzArt even donates to the PTA!

KidzArt® uses only high quality, non-toxic art materials.
